The dream of establishing a school in Mysuru by Baden Powell Education Society of Bharat Scouts and Guides, Mysuru District Association began to take wings with great dedication and perseverance of Dr J Kamala Raman, President BSG Mysuru District Association, Mrs Sheila Irani, Chairman BSG Mysuru District Association, Mr V Eapen, Vice President BSG Mysuru District Association, Dr K.B. Gurumurthy, Secretary BSG District Association, Mr G N Chennabasappa, Treasurer of BSG Mysuru District Association, Mr P. Vishwanath, District Commissioner BSG Mysuru Association, Dr R Lalitha, District Commissioner for Guides BSG Mysuru Association and Mr B Rajashekarappa, member on 2nd June 1992 in Jayachamarajendra Scout and Guide building with 13 students and two teachers on roll.
Baden Powell Public School is a co-educational English medium school affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. The school is named after the great visionary Lord Robert Stephenson Smith Baden Powell, who initiated the Scouts and Guides movement and made it an international movement.
The school is located in the heart of the city of Mysuru in 8.5 acre of land donated by Sri Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar, Maharaja of Mysore. The school building is situated amidst a serene, pleasant and homely atmosphere having two blocks of three floors with 56 rooms in total. The school managing committee consists of educationists, doctors, engineers, professionals and philanthropists who helps in the effective functioning of the school. BPPS strives to inculcate the best moral, intellectual and cultural values among students.
The school is well equipped with computer and science Laboratories and Library. At BPPS, emphasis is laid on building self confidence, pride and sense of belongingness in a student along with providing opportunity to represent his or her school in the world of competition. With a large student body of 1040 presently, the school is fortunate to have a large pool of enthusiastic student athletes to choose from and this is reflected in our impressive record of success in wide range of regional, state and national level competitions.
Students of BPPS are known for their excellence in academics, including Board Examination results and overall scholastic achievements. Baden Powellians always maintain 100% in CBSE results with large number of distinctions till date. I feel proud to inform you that we are in the process of replacing all old smart boards with the state-of-the-art LED panels. Importance is also given for co-scholastic activities such as Computer, Art and Craft, Music such as Violin, Guitar, Drums, Piano, Keyboard etc. Classical and Western dance is also given equal importance.
These is also an infirmary to support the health and wellbeing of students and teachers. Dr K B Gurumurthy, Prof. of Medicine is always, available in the school for this purpose. All the students, parents, teaching and non-teaching staff and the members of school managing committee is brought under personal accident medical policy for Rs. 200000/-.
Baden Powell Public School is one of the oldest and the most premier “Day school” not only in Mysuru but also in Karnataka. We take pride in its excellent academic faculty who are groomed under efficient and experienced Principal Mr Radhakrishnan T M. B.P.P.S has its Alumini spread all over the world that cherish memories of their Alma Mater.
We have installed ‘Solar Power Panel’. This is our effort to have alternate power and lesser consumption of electricity. You will be proud to know that our school is first to implement ‘Solar Power Panel’ in Mysuru City.
In addition to ‘Solar Power Panel’, we have also installed ‘R.O Plant’ in the premises. The aim is to provide clean and pure drinking water to all. This is also used for Scouts and Guides Camps.
Our school has thus pioneered in many ways to look after the wellness of children, staff and visitors at all times.
As we have celebrated 100 years of scouting and Guiding during the month of February 2007, I am very proud to remark that Baden Powell Public School is the only one school in India directly managed by Scouts and Guides movement and 100% of our teaching faculties and students are trained in Scouts and Guides. We have celebrated the Silver Jubilee of Baden Powell Public School in the year 2017. I convey my gratitude personally to Mysuru Royal family who donated the land for Scouting and Guiding. I also express my sincere thanks to Mr P Vishwanath, President B.P.P.S, Dr.G. Siddesh, Vice President B.P.P.S, Mr. Abdul Jameel, Treasurer B.P.P.S, Dr.J. Kamala Raman, Mrs. R. Rajashree, CA Ebby Eapen, Mr T S Ravishankar, Mrs. Pushpavalli, Mr. Vasu, all teaching and non-teaching staff, valuable parents and well-wishers, student community and people involved directly and indirectly in helping us make this institution one of the best in the city.
Our founding fathers with a visionary zeal had laid a strong foundation and we are obliged to pay homage to them as they have contributed selflessly and significantly towards the institution.
